Method and device for lubricating a tool and workpiece when cutting

The method involves storing a quantity of cutting oil by a micro-surface structure (21), which is positioned in functional surfaces (17, 18) of a cutting punch (5) and a cutting plate (7). The quantity of the cutting oil is uniformly distributed on the functional surfaces in co-operation with the functional surfaces to a quasi-stationary cutting oil film in a closed tool, where the functional surfaces are movable against each other. The quantity of the cutting oil is transported into a deformed zone over an operation joint at an active surface at the cutting punch and the tool. An independent claim is also included for a device for lubricating a tool and a workpiece during cutting and shaping.
