PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide in which a frequency and a propagation mode of an electromagnetic wave to be transmitted are taken into account.SOLUTION: An outer diameter φ1 (a distance D between inner surfaces of a cover body in a direction orthogonal to a direction of an electric field vector of an electromagnetic wave) and an inner diameter φ2 of a waveguide 1 are set in such a manner that a microwave of e.g., 5.8 GHz is transmitted in a tube axis direction under a TE11 mode. For example, the thickness of a dielectric 21 is 2.45 mm and the waveguide 1 has the outer diameter φ1=44.5 mm and the inner diameter φ2=39.6 mm. A wavelength of the electromagnetic wave is shortened in passing the dielectric 21, such that a practical tube diameter φ' in a view from the electromagnetic wave becomes larger than the tube diameter φ. Under the condition that a specific dielectric constant εr of the dielectric 21 satisfies εr=2.5, the practical tube diameter φ' satisfies φ'=47.35 mm for the purpose of calculation. A cutoff frequency fc of the TE11 mode calculated from the tube diameter is 3.71 GHz.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
