PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which makes it possible to intuitively grasp a distance to an obstacle or a passerby and a risk in the periphery of a vehicle.SOLUTION: An image processing system for processing an image comprises: image acquisition means for acquiring a photographic image taken by a camera mounted on the vehicle; synthesis means for generating a synthetic image indicating the periphery of the vehicle viewed from a virtual view point, on the basis of the photographic image; superimposition means for generating a periphery image with a superimposed distance mark indicating a distance from the vehicle, so as to surround the periphery of the vehicle displayed in the synthetic image; and output means for outputting the periphery image to a display device and causes the display device to display the image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
