PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of appropriately jointing a shield plate and a porous body passage to prevent a seal material from flowing and entering into the porous body passage in a fuel cell equipped with the porous body passage.SOLUTION: A welding method is to manufacture a passage member 50 by making a porous body passage 40 contact with an upper electrode 731 and making a shield plate 45 contact with a lower electrode 733, and spot welding the porous body passage 40 and the shield plate 45, with an amount of pushing displacement of the shield plate 45 from the lower electrode 733 being smaller than an amount of pushing displacement D of the porous body passage from the upper electrode 731.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
