An array substrate for AN in-plane switching mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to minimize effects on an electric field formed between a common electrode and a pixel electrode within a pixel area of data lines and gate lines by forming first and second sub common electrodes overlapped with the data lines and gate lines, thereby giving no effects on display quality even when a width of an outmost common line is thin. Gate lines(103) and data lines(135) are formed as defining a pixel area(P) by crossing each other. A common line(109) is formed as being spaced in parallel with the gate lines. A TFT(Thin Film Transistor)(Tr) is formed as being connected with the gate lines and data lines. An outmost common electrode(111) is connected with the common line and formed in an outmost portion of the pixel area in parallel with the data lines. Plural pixel electrodes(170) are connected with the TFT within the pixel area and formed as being spaced from each other in parallel with the data lines. Plural central common electrodes(173) are formed so as to be alternatively parallel with the plural pixel electrodes. First and second sub common electrodes(175,177) are connected with the common line and fully cover the data lines and gate lines. A color filter layer is formed in the pixel area.
