<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve output characteristics of a fuel cell using a high concentration fuel. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell comprises an anode catalyst layer, a cathode catalyst layer, a proton conductive membrane arranged between the anode catalyst layer and the cathode catalyst layer, and a mechanism in order to supply fuel to the anode catalyst layer. In the fuel cell, as an anode catalyst in the anode catalyst layer, a catalyst is used which is obtained by carrying catalyst metal on a carbon carrier in which the ratio of the maximum gradient at a relative vapor pressure of 0.3 or more and 0.5 or less to the maximum gradient at the relative vapor pressure of 0.1 or more and 0.2 or less on an adsorption isotherm of steam measured at 25°C becomes 2 or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
