The present invention relates to a porous composite for removing phosphorous and a manufacturing method thereof. More particularly, the manufacturing method of a porous composite for removing phosphorous comprises the steps of: manufacturing porous melanin resin particles by dissolving a sulfoxide compound, melanin, and aldehyde-based compound and conducting dehydration/condensation and cleaning/drying the mixture obtained; freeze-drying the porous melanin resin particles at 0 to -50°C for at least 12 hours; and coordinating copper ions by impregnating the freeze-dried porous melanin resin particles in a copper ion solution. The porous composite for removing phosphorous manufactured according to the present invention can selectively remove phosphorous regardless of presence of competing ions in water by having excellent selectivity to phosphorous.
