PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent for a magnetic disk substrate that has an extremely high washability against abrasive grains or polishing debris and reduces the surface roughness of the substrate after the washing.SOLUTION: The detergent for a magnetic disk substrate includes a phosphorus-atom-containing chelate agent (A), an inorganic alkali (B), and water.
