<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a surgical operation step and/or a surgical operation intervention. <P>SOLUTION: A surgical operation monitoring technique detects a surgical operation situation such as introduction, insertion, preparation, positioning, incision, maintaining, awakening, recovery, and/or cure management based on information received from a patient monitor 112 and/or a medical device which is comparable with a predetermined data pattern which can be based on heuristic classification or statistic classification.
