<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an effect of start of an electrophoretic device or the like, and to enhance the reliability of electrophoretic analysis. <P>SOLUTION: When starting electrophoretic analysis after a thermostat temperature reaches a desired set temperature, the state of an electrophoretic medium becomes substantially the same as a state after repeating many times the electrophoretic analysis. Preferably, during preheating the thermostat, a voltage is applied to a separation medium filled in a capillary. Preferably, the thermostat temperature during preheating is set at a higher temperature than a thermostat temperature during the electrophoretic analysis. Preferably, before preheating the thermostat, a buffer solution is heated. Preferably, during preheating the thermostat, the separation medium warmed beforehand is filled in the capillary.
