<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activated carbon fiber for improving oxidation reaction contributing to desulfurization or denitration and to provide an apparatus for cleaning an exhaust gas, using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The activated carbon fiber is doped with a metal. Any of chromium, iridium, manganese, palladium, platinum, iron, cobalt and silver may be cited as the metal to be doped.
