PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately achieve protection against overdischarge and overcharge without degrading convenience through a simple configuration even when a battery pack comprised of a secondary battery is connected to any equipment different in power consumption characteristics. SOLUTION: The battery pack 1 includes: a charging switch 2 that connects or disconnects a charging path to the secondary battery 10; a discharging switch 3 that connects or disconnects a discharging path to the secondary battery 10; an ammeter 4 that measures charging current or discharging current; a voltmeter 5 that measures the voltage of the secondary battery 10; and a controlling means 6 that controls the switches 2, 3 based on the result of comparison of a measured voltage value with a voltage reference value. The controlling means 6 appropriately achieves protection against overdischarge and overcharge by dynamically varying the voltage reference value according to the current value measured by the ammeter 4 when the battery pack 1 is connected to equipment (load device or charger) different in power characteristic.
