PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a UV absorber mixture for protecting human and animal skin and hair from damage by UV radiation, and a cosmetic formulation including the UV absorber mixture. SOLUTION: The UV absorber mixture comprises (a) 1-60 wt.% of a micronized UV broadband absorber of a formula (1), wherein R<SB>1</SB>is C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>12</SB>alkyl or phenyl-substituted C<SB>1</SB>-C<SB>12</SB>alkyl, and (b) 1-60 wt.% of a water dispersible and oil dispersible coated titanium dioxide.
