<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic garnet single crystal with less lead content, an optical device using such a magnetic garnet single crystal and a method for producing a single crystal with regard to a magnetic garnet single crystal grown by a liquid-phase epitaxial (LPE) method, an optical device using the same, and a method for producing a magnetic garnet single crystal. <P>SOLUTION: Specifically disclosed is a magnetic garnet single crystal grown by liquid-phase epitaxy which is represented by the chemical formula: Bi<SB>x</SB>Na<SB>y</SB>Pb<SB>z</SB>M1<SB>3-x-y-z</SB>Fe<SB>5-w</SB>M2<SB>w</SB>O<SB>12</SB>, wherein M1 represents at least one element selected from among Y, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu; M2 represents at least one element selected from among Ga, Al, In, Ti, Ge, Si, and Pt; and 0.5<x≤2.0, 0<y≤0.8, 0≤z<0.01, 0.19≤3-x-y-z<2.5, and 0≤w≤1.6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
