<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modular adjustable blood filtration system, removing a filter from a delivery system if not necessary, and introducing a new filter to capture embolic material in a blood vessel. <P>SOLUTION: This system includes the modular blood filter device and the delivery system 10. The system 10 includes a hollow vessel insertion device 20 with a modular filter apparatus 40. The insertion device 20 has a distal end 24 adapted to enter an artery and a proximal end adapted to receive the modular filter apparatus 40. When the insertion device 20 is a cannula, the modular filter apparatus 40 is received through a side port 32. The modular filter apparatus 40 includes a shaft 62, a removable filter 70 or an adjustable filter device, which includes a filter mesh 80, an adjustable frame 72 and a sizing mechanism 74. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
