PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-standing thin television and a display stand equipped with a mechanism capable of preventing the self-standing thin display from falling down with simple constitution without spoiling beauty. SOLUTION: The television stand 10 for the self-standing thin television 1 has a horizontal pocket 30, opened to the rear, below a top plate 18 thereof. A support plate 4 of the thin television 1 is inserted into the horizontal pocket 30 from the rear and placed on a horizontal plate. The support plate 4 is sandwiched between the top plate 18 and the horizontal plate 23 from above and below, so when the thin television 1 slightly tilts forward or backward, the support plate 4 abuts against the top plate or horizontal plate 23, so that the thin television does not further tilt.
