PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-mounted image display device enabling to adjust the weight balance of the whole device easily and simply while improving convenience. SOLUTION: The head-mounted image display device is provided with an image display unit for displaying an image based on an image signal to the user's eyes, and a spectacle-type support member mountable to the user's head while supporting the image display unit. The head-mounted image display device is configured so that the image display unit is freely attachable/detachable to/from the spectacle type support member. The head-mounted image display device is also provided with a weight position adjusting mechanism that moves a weight provided in the spectacle type support member or in the image display unit in conjunction with mounting operation of the image display unit to the spectacle type support member in order to adjust a weight balance when the image display unit is mounted.
