PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a snippet applied to a request of a user by use of position information present inside a text, in a device performing text retrieval from a text set present inside a computer or capable of being accessed via a computer network, and acquiring the snippet showing an outline of each retrieval result. SOLUTION: This generation device of the retrieval result snippet includes: a geographic indexer 020 extracting a place name present inside the text of the text set, and allocating latitude and longitude to the extracted place name; a place name connotation range specification part 100 specifying extent implied by each place name; a place name importance level determination part 220 calculating an importance level of the place name inside the text based on information of the implied extent or the latitude and the longitude of the place name included inside the text; and a sentence evaluation part 230 evaluating a sentence that is a partial document inside the text based on the importance level of the place name included inside the text, and extracting the sentence thought as important.
