摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for finding the distance between a video camera fixed to a vehicle and a target point, and the direction.SOLUTION: A system maps the grid points representative of a world coordinate grid on a screen coordinate grid and stores, and displays a video image on a display by using the screen coordinate grid. The system acquires the target point of an object in the video image, and finds the positions of four closest grid points of the screen coordinate grid surrounding that target point. The system finds the screen distance to each of the four grid points from the target point, and maps that four grid points in the world coordinate grid. An electronic control unit interpolates the position of the target point in the world coordinate grid, as being weighted by the screen distance. The system finds the distance between the video camera and the target point, by using the position of the video camera in the world coordinate, and the position of the target point in the world coordinate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
