A braking appliance (90) for a window shade according to the present invention includes a plate guide (100) inserted to a rope (R) of a window shade to be moved vertically; and a braking unit (200) mounted on the guide (100) to strain or release the rope (R). Accordingly, when the braking unit (200) is descended, the rope (R) for a window shade is covered in order to prevent the head of an infant from passing through the rope, thus preventing, in advance, a safety accident, occurred by the rope (R) fastening the head of an infant. Moreover, the braking unit (200) can be ascended to open the rope (R) when using the rope (R). |
