EXTRACTION OF FRESH MEDICINAL PLANTS BY FREEZING AND LOW-TEMPERATURE EXTRACTION METHOD

PURPOSE: A method of extracting fresh medicinal plants by freezing the fresh medicinal plants containing leaves, roots, barks, fruits or the like and then extracting them at low temperature with agitating is provided. It reduces the extraction time and promotes the extraction of effective ingredients while enhancing the extraction efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The extraction method comprises the steps: washing fresh medicinal plants with flowing water 2 to 4 times; sterilizing them with 5 to 20% aqueous solution of sodium chloride at 100±5deg.C for 10 to 180sec and followed by washing with flowing water 2 to 4 times; cutting the medicinal herbs into 1 to 2mm and spraying 10 to 30% by weight of purified water to them; aging them at 15 to 25deg.C for 2 to 10hr to give a moisture content of 85 to 95%, followed by freezing at -20 to -40deg.C for 2 to 10hr; adding 5 to 15 times of water or spirits having an alcohol content of 10 to 70% to the medicinal herbs and then extracting them at 20 to 80deg.C for 120 to 240deg.C with agitating at 10 to 20rpm; concentrating the extract at 30 to 60deg.C for 60 to 240min in the vacuum condition of 1.0 to 0.1Torr.
