GEL TYPE ENTERIC NUTRIENT

A gel type enteric nutrient, which is excellent in the shape retention ability of the solid matter (gel) in the stomach, is scarcely disintegrated or dissolved upon a pH change, shows little change in the physical properties (water liberation, etc.) even during prolonged storage, can be thermally sterilized and smoothly passes through an enteric tube, can be prepared by blending agar and alginic acid and/or its salt with soybean protein as a nitrogen source. The above-described gel type enteric nutrient is advantageous in that the intake thereof causes neither gastro-esophageal reflux nor leakage of the nutrient.
