A method for containing a bale (B) of compressible material includes compressing the bale (B) of compressible material to form a compressed bale having a plurality of grooves (G) in at least one side thereof. The grooves (G) are recessed from an outer surface of the compressed bale (B). The compressed bale (B) is transferred to a flexible container (100). The container (100) conforms to a shape of the compressed bale (B) such that at least some portions of the flexible container (100) take the shape of the grooves (G) to define container portions recessed from the outer surface (S) of the compressed bale (B). A containerized bale (B) made by the method is also disclosed.
