PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for protection against atmospheric electric discharges.SOLUTION: A variable electric field balancing device is formed of a hollow assembly. The hollow assembly has geometric shapes that can be different on the outside and includes an upper passive capture element (2) serving as a capture electrode, a lower passive capture element (3) serving as a reception electrode, and an insulator element. The insulator element keeps the upper and lower passive capture elements separated from each other at a distance (d) that is dependent on the conductivity coefficient of a material, The insulator element also externally covers the lower element (3) like a skirt to the same height as the lower base of the lower element, and prevents the impact of a lightning bolt on the lower element (3) from being able to induce the generation of an upward leader. There is also an expansion and compression valve (5).
