<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a backlight turned on when an image is displayed to the necessary minimum while a liquid crystal display panel is made thin. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 40 performs display control of a main display panel 11 and a sub display panel 13 using a first driver 41 and a second driver 42. The controller 40 always can turn on the backlight 20 with the necessary minimum power consumption according to the display panel currently performing display by controlling turning on of an LED of the backlight 20 according to the size and the position of the display panel performing image display according to the display control. Since the backlight 20 is constituted of a light guide plate and a plurality of LEDs and emits light to both side surfaces, the liquid crystal display can be made thin. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
