<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device having high freedom of installation on a luminaire. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device 1 lighting a lamp 6 is mounted on a mounting plate 21 arranged in a vertical direction on a fixture main body 2 of the luminaire. Leg parts 11a, 11b having top end surface touching with the mounting plate 21 are protrusively arranged at a part of an outer casing 10 of the lighting device 1, and the leg parts 11a, 11b form a gap A between opposed faces of the outer casing 10 and the mounting plate 21.
