<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly execute automatic color processing. <P>SOLUTION: A printer driver 2005 determines the ratio of clock rate of CPU of a host computer 2000 to clock rate of CPU of a printer 2100, and compares this value with fixed thresholds, for example, 2.5 and 5. When the ratio is less than 2.5, the automatic color processing is entirely performed in the printer 2100. When the ratio is 5 or more, the automatic color processing is entirely performed in the host computer 2000.
