<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon-black-dispersed organic solvent which realizes improved thermal spalling resistance in a carbon-containing refractory, to provide a carbon-black-dispersed organic resin prepared by adding and mixing the organic solvent, and to provide a carbon-containing refractory using the organic resin. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon-black-dispersed organic solvent is prepared by adding and dissolving a dispersant to and in an organic solvent and dispersing 5 to 50 wt.% carbon black in the solvent. The carbon-black-dispersed organic resin is prepared by making the carbon-black-dispersed organic solvent in the first step and adding and mixing the organic solvent made in the first step to and with an organic resin (phenolic resin or furan resin) in the second step. The carbon-containing refractory is a carbon-containing refractory using the organic resin wherein the content of the carbon black contained in the carbon-containing refractory is 0.05 to 2.0 wt.%, and formula (1): (E<SB>2</SB>-E<SB>1</SB>)/E<SB>1</SB>≤0.2 holds (wherein E<SB>1</SB>is the modulus of elasticity after heating at 1,500°C for t h in a nonoxidizing atmosphere; E<SB>2</SB>is the modulus of elasticity after heating at 1,500°C for 10t h in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and 1≤t≤10). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
