<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high ejection level by low pressing frequency by providing a rotator which rotates/moves forward through a pressing operation of a slider and fitting a writing element unit to a cam surface formed in the rotator. <P>SOLUTION: This retractable writing utensil has the writing element unit arranged retractably in a barrel, and a retraction mechanism of the writing element unit is configured of the slider and the rotator 4 which rotates and moves forward by the pressing operation of the slider.
