PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for a lubricant, having an excellent lubricating effect and further having a resembling structure with those of mineral oil or a polyolefin-based oil, and a lubrication oil composition containing the same. SOLUTION: This additive for the lubricant is an unsaturated compound having the molecular formula: C<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n</SB>[wherein, (n) is an integer of 9 to 62], and having 1 or 2 as the total of the number of hydrogen atoms bonded with the carbon atoms constituting a double bond.
