PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device which can break the power supply from an external power source to an electronic circuit, when a fault occurs in the electronic circuit. SOLUTION: This portable terminal device 1 can be supplied with power from an external AC power source 2. The device is equipped with the electronic circuit, detection circuits 111, 123, and 124 which detect the abnormal operation, in at least one place of the electronic circuit; a first switch 114 which short-circuits a part of a power transmission path that connects the external AC power source 2 with the electronic circuit; and a second control circuit 112 which so switches the first switch 114 as to open, when it detects abnormal operation by the detection circuits 111, 123, and 124.
