PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent probe which easily detects a cesium-containing substance and also to provide a method for detecting the cesium-containing substance using the same.SOLUTION: A fluorescent probe is represented by a formula (1) (where, R-Rrepresents hydrogen or functional groups each independently having electron attractiveness or electron-donating ability. A method for detecting a cesium-containing substance includes the steps of: bringing a substance to be tested, the fluorescent probe represented by the formula (1) and alcohol into contact with each other; and irradiating the fluorescent probe and the substance to be tested in contact with alcohol with an excitation source.
