摘要 PURPOSE: An absolute position detecting device of an electric power steering wheel is provided to detect the absolute position of a rack bar precisely by detecting the relative displacement of the rack bar through an encoder in sensing the initial absolute position of the rack bar by an LVDT(Linear Variable Differential Transformer). CONSTITUTION: An electronic control unit(24) of an electric power steering system supplies current to a motor(10) by detecting turning torque of a steering wheel to drive a rack bar(5), and an encoder(30) detects the relative displacement of the rack bar by detecting rotation of the motor. An LVDT(50) is installed to a motor housing to detect left and right moving displacement of the rack bar and to detect the initial absolute position of the rack bar by transmitting the detected signal to the electronic control unit. An inclined portion(60) is formed in the rack bar, and contacted to a movable bar(54) of the LVDT.
