<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device for a linear motor movable body capable of realizing extraordinary reduction in manufacturing cost and easy maintenance by simplifying a structure with the reduced number of components. <P>SOLUTION: In a linear motor, a linear motor movable element 2 advances and retreats a linear motor stator 1 in a guide by a linear motor driving mechanism 3 which is constituted of the cylindrical linear motor stator 1 in which a plurality of magnets are disposed in it and thee linear motor movable element 2 in which the stator 1 is movably disposed in a guide. Compressed air supply is cut off to an air cylinder (brake body expanding and contracting means) 6, a brake body 4 in a torsion coil spring shape is retained in a non-controlled condition with the diameter expanded in a free condition to allow the linear motor movable element 2 to advance and retract in this linear motor. The diameter of the brake body 4 is contracted by the operation of the brake body expanding and contracting means 6, and retained in a controlled condition under which it is wound around the linear motor stator 1 to restrain inertial advancing/retracting movement of the linear motor movable element 2, thus performing rapid deceleration and stopping. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
