An organic light emitting display device and a driving method thereof are provided to maintain power consumption to be lower than a predetermined value, irrespective of the light emitting state of a light emitting unit. An organic light emitting display device includes a light emitting unit(11), a light emitting degree setting unit(13), a reference table(15), and a light emitting controller(17). The light emitting unit includes plural OLEDs(Organic Light Emitting Diodes) and emits light. The light emitting degree setting unit sets a light emitting level according to the variation of the light emitting area and/or light emitting rate of the light emitting unit, by extracting data from the entire or a portion of display region of an input frame. The reference table stores data on an input current, which is input to the light emitting element corresponding to the respective light emitting areas for respective light emitting degrees. The light emitting controller controls the input current according to a corresponding light emitting degree, so that the OLED is driven at a value lower than the data in the reference table.
