BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM USING SWITCHING REGULATOR, AND METHOD OF CHARGING BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved battery charger system and a battery charger method which improve the efficiency of a battery charge process.

SOLUTION: In one embodiment, a switching regulator receives an input voltage and an input current. The output terminal of the switching regulator is coupled with a battery to be charged. The switching regulator supplies a battery with a current larger than the current to itself. As the voltage of the battery increases, the current supplied by the switching regulator decreases. Since the current to the battery decreases according as the battery voltage increases, it can be mounted, using either an analog technology or a digital technology.
