<p>This invention is intended to prevent the generation of a flare which otherwise might be caused by the light reflection at the upper end portion of the lens frame. The capsule endoscope (1) according to this invention has a solid image sensor (4a) introduced into the organs of the subject to pick up images in the subject. Also, the capsule endoscope (1) includes light-emitting units (3a) for emitting the illumination light for illuminating the view field of the solid image sensor (4a), a lens (4d) for focusing the images in the subject on the light-receiving surface of the solid image sensor (4a), a lens frame (4e) for holding the lens (4d) and shield units (8). The upper end portion of the lens frame (4e) is lower than the upper surface of the light-emitting units (3a), and the shield units (8) shield, from the illumination light, at least that partial area of the upper end portion of the lens frame (4e) which otherwise would receive the illumination light from the light-emitting units (3a).</p> |
