A message transmitting method comprises: obtaining the identifier of a receiver; obtaining the identifier of a visual element; receiving a sound collection instruction; collecting sound according to the sound collection instruction, so as to form audio data; uploading the audio data to a server for storage; receiving the storage position identifier of the audio data fed back by the server; generating a message according to the identifier of the visual element and the storage position identifier, and transmitting the message to a message receiving end corresponding to the identifier of the receiver so that the message receiving end can play the audio data while displaying the visual element.
