PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for decomposing environmental pollutant such as petroleum, etc., containing hardly decomposable aromatic hydrocarbons by microorganisms, decomposing environmentally pollutants including the wide range kinds of aromatic compounds safely and inexpensively by throwing the microorganisms in a petroleum-polluted environment, etc., and also performing efficient environmental depuration. SOLUTION: This method for decomposing the environmental pollutant is provided by using Sphingomonas sp KA1 (FERM P-19744) and Pseudomonas fluorescens IP01 (FERM P-20594).
