<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve negative factors with respect to power-saving generated in the conventional image forming apparatus that depends wholly on commercial power supplies for the required power in an OFF/SLEEP mode, and to attain further power saving. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, a capacitor control part 112 performs control for supplying power in the OFF/SLEEP mode from a capacitor bank 105 which accumulates excess power generated in use of a commercial main power supply to an electric component 114 requiring power supply, even in the OFF/SLEEP mode as a sub-power supply. In addition, the power of a capacitor is supplied to the capacitor control part in the OFF/SLEEP mode.
