METHOD FOR REINFORCING NUTRITIONAL COMPONENT OF PLANT BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reinforcing nutritional components of a plant body improving nutritional components of a monocotyledon cultivated plant such as sprouted Welsh onion in particular.

SOLUTION: The method for reinforcing nutritional components of a plant body comprises irradiating UV-B of artificial ultraviolet ray to sprouted Welsh onion which is the monocotyledon cultivated plant so as to increase the content of functional substance such as ascorbic acid or polyphenole enhancing diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical elimination activity in the plant body. The sprouted Welsh onion is produced by the method. The produced sprouted Welsh onion is processed to produce food or medical products.
