PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust removing device which suppresses breakage of a mechanism caused by dust removing operation. SOLUTION: The dust removing device for the imaging device is provided with: a movable unit having an imaging element; and a control unit which controls movements of the movable unit on a plane parallel to mutually perpendicular first and second directions perpendicular to the optical axis of an imaging optical system forming an optical image to be incident on the imaging plane of the imaging element. For the dust removing operation, the control unit moves the movable unit to a center position where the movable unit does not come into contact with a movement range end within a movement range and makes the movable unit collide against a movement range end in the second direction while keeping the center position of the movable unit in the first direction in the same state.
