An injection mould 2 for carrying out an injection moulding method is disclosed. The mould 2 comprises first and second mould parts which are adapted to be connected together in a closed configuration to define a mould cavity 10 therebetween, so that the cavity 10 defines a base portion and a sidewall portion of an article (e.g. a container) to be moulded. At least one portion (e.g. a core 20) of one of the first and second mould parts is selectively movable within the cavity 10 by means of an actuator (e.g. a cylinder-piston assembly 45), when the first and second mould parts are in the closed configuration, so as to vary the volume of the cavity 10. An injector (e.g. a feed nozzle 4) injects molten moulding material into the cavity 10. The movement of the at least one portion, within the cavity 10, is in first and second directions so as to increase and reduce, respectively, the volume of the mould cavity 10, and a detector for detecting a pressure associated with the actuator. The at least one portion may comprise the entirety of one of the first and second mould parts. |
