<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily perform image mute operation. <P>SOLUTION: Each time a remote control signal for mute control is received by a remote control receiving section 122, a control section 121 in a terminal body 120 alternately switches a mute canceled state and a mute state. In the mute canceled state, compressed image data obtained by compressing picked-up image data from a camera 110 are extracted by an image switching section 125, and the compressed image data are transmitted via a packetize section 126 and a communication I/F 127. In the mute state, image data for mute (compressed image data) read from a nonvolatile memory 124 are extracted by the image switching section 125, and the compressed image data are transmitted via the packetize section 126 and the communication I/F 127.
