A test apparatus and a method for evaluating particle movement during hydrocarbon production includes a screen assembly which has a sealed fluid passage between an input-end portion and an output-end portion. A fluid inlet port is fluidly coupleable to the input-end portion and provides fluid communication with a fluid source. A fluid outlet port is fluidly coupleable to the output-end portion and provides a fluid outlet from the sealed fluid passage. The screen assembly includes at least one radiolucent screen member adapted to allow in-situ imaging of a predetermined solids-control characteristic to solids suspended in a fluid moving from said fluid inlet port towards said fluid outlet port. The method includes the steps of: operatively coupling said test apparatus to a test tubing and commencing a predetermined sanding experiment; removing said test apparatus from said test tubing and imaging at least one zone of interest of said at least one radiolucent screen member in-situ utilizing a predetermined imaging method; and post-processing the resulting images to determine at least one material property of said at least one radiolucent screen member. |
