This periphery monitoring device for a work machine is provided with: a periphery monitoring monitor 15; a plurality of cameras that acquire the state of the periphery of a work machine; an image processing unit that generates an overhead image 61 indicating the state of the periphery of the work machine on the basis of images captured by the plurality of cameras; a work machine operation detection unit for detecting operation of the work machine; and a display control unit for displaying a single camera image 62 that is an image from one or a plurality of cameras among the plurality of cameras, and/or the overhead image 61, and/or a machine gauge display, and/or a menu display, and/or a malfunction information display on the periphery monitoring monitor 15. When operation of the work machine is detected, the display control unit performs control for enlarging the periphery of the work machine in the overhead image 61 so as to be larger than the periphery of the work machine in the overhead image 61 prior to the detection of operation of the work machine. As a result, it is possible to reduce the difficulty of display screen operation by a user. |
