PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure of a sensor without using a sensor or the like separately.SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a residual quantity sensor for detecting residual quantity of paper in a paper feed tray and outputting a residual quantity signal; and a resist sensor for detecting whether paper exists at a detection position in a conveyance passage and outputting a medium signal. The recording device executes paper conveyance determination processing (S34) for determining whether paper exists at the detection position on the basis of the medium signal from the resist sensor every time conveyance processing is performed and paper reduction determination processing (S36, 39) for acquiring the residual quantity signal from the residual quantity sensor every time the conveyance processing is performed and determining whether paper is reduced. Sensor failure determination processing (S31, S41) for determining failures of the residual quantity sensor and the resist sensor are executed on the basis of the determination result in the paper conveyance determination processing and the determination result in the paper reduction determination processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
