The electrical generator 10 has connection terminals 16 formed on the end cover 12. In order that the generator can be used on a number of different road vehicle types the terminals are fitted with adapter elements 18 that project in a radial direction. An air inlet element 30 is also fitted to allow cooling air to be circulated around the interior of the housing. This can be generated by an integral impeller or a separate blower.
