<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron type golf club head capable of improving the repulsion without impairing the durability. <P>SOLUTION: The iron type golf club head 1 has a face part FP surrounded by a top face TP forming the upper surface of the head, a sole face SO forming the lower surface of the head and a toe TO connecting the top face TP and the sole face SO on the distal end side of the head. The face part FP comprises a thick part 5 forming an area including a sweet spot SS and a thin part 6 which is thinner than the thick part, disposed on the outer side of the thick part 5. The thin part 6 at least comprise a top side thin part 6a extending in the toe-heel direction on the top face side.
