PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic gas meter capable of avoiding the occurrence of gas supply cutoff though a gas consumption apparatus functions normally, even when the speed of the flow rate variation of gas of the gas consumption apparatus is extremely low. SOLUTION: The electronic gas meter 10 stores instantaneous flow rate Qi, and the maximum value and minimum value of the instantaneous flow rate. The latest instantaneous flow rate Qi is compared in magnitude with the maximum value and minimum value. When the flow rate exceeds the maximum value or minimum value, the maximum value or minimum value is updated to the latest instantaneous flow rate Qi. The differenceΔQ between the stored maximum value and minimum value is calculated. When it exceeds a predetermined flow rate variation threshold dQ, it is determined as presence of the flow rate variation, and the stored maximum value and minimum value are updated to the latest instantaneous flow rate.
